A Sanctuary Point man who admitted drinking 18 stubbies of beer before producing a breath reading three times the legal limit the following day has been fined $1400.

Garry Waters, 41, pleaded guilty to high range drink driving in Nowra Local Court.
Court papers said Waters was stopped by South Coast Police in a Holden Commodore for a random breath test on Kinghorne Street, Nowra around 9.40am on August 16.
He returned a positive result and then a breath reading more than three times the limit 0.173.
Waters allegedly told police he had consumed 18 stubbies of full-strength beer the previous evening and had stopped drinking at 11pm.
Magistrate Gabriel Fleming fined him $1400, disqualified him from driving for six months and ordered he have an interlock device fitted to his vehicle for two years.
