THE star of Batemans Bay's Lachlan Malcolm continues to rise after he was recently selected in the ACT Comets rookie program, which complements the regional academy.

This move, which fellow Shoalhaven products Matthew Gilkes, Matt Condon and Tom Engelbrecht have all previously made to the nation's capital, allowed him to be one of 13 players selected in the senior rookies squad, alongside Archie Wearne, Blake McCarten, Zak Keogh ,Blake Faunce, Lachie Reid, Jack Stokes, Jack Sanson, Callum Smith, Tom Kellar, Felix Bennett, Kai Bryant and Dillion Brick.
These 13, as well as the 14 junior rookies, will be coached by Erin Osborne, Bjorn Pfieffer, Adrian Brunker, Josh Watling, Michael Barrington, Jake Floros and Kyle Piper during the 10-week program.
"This program provides selected players with an opportunity to further their development across all aspects of the game," an Cricket ACT spokesperson said.
"The holistic nature of this program is important, given that athletic (and off field) development and success is multifaceted in nature.
Players were selected by Cricket ACT high performance staff based on their perceived attributes to play at a higher level, long-term potential, character and how it aligns with the club's core values, and cognitive and psychological predictors.
