POLICE are investigating the alleged assault of a man in caves near the Nowra Showground that left the victim with a suspected broken leg.

About 8am, Wednesday, July 1, a man believed to be aged in his 40s, presented to Nowra Police Station to report an assault on another man at a cave near the showground.
The man was arrested and is assisting police with inquiries.
Detectives from South Coast Police District attended the cave with NSW Ambulance Paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW and found an injured man, also believed to be aged in his 40s.
He was retrieved by rescue crews and taken to Shoalhaven District Hospital with a suspected broken leg.
Inquiries are continuing.
