Illawarra Rugby president, Darin Crofts, announced the creation of two new challenge shield trophies, which will be awarded to the first and second grade clubs that finish on top of the ladder following the modified nine-round competition, kicking off on August 1.
First grade sides will play for the Peter Woods Challenge Shield, with the Talk2MeBro Challenge Shield up for grabs in second grade.
"The first grade shield recognises the incredible contribution to Illawarra Rugby by Peter Woods - as a player, referee, administrator, board member and president over many many years," Crofts said.
"The second grade shield acknowledges our commitment along, with the Talk2MeBro organisation, to raising awareness of men's suicide and bringing numbers down to zero through better mental health for our men.
"Moving forward, from next season, the two respective shield holders will be required to defend it at all away games.
"In both cases, the name of the club holding the respective shield at the end of the season will be inscribed on the shield."
Illawarra Rugby is expected to release its 2020 draw in the coming days.
