The cause of the fire is unknown, but smoke was spotted coming from the property shortly after 10am on Friday, June 26.
The neighbour knocked on the door, and said she could feel the heat coming from inside the home.
She got no response, and immediately called Fire and Rescue, who arrived "minutes later."
The fire was brought under control within an hour. The house remains standing, but it is understood there is extensive damage to the interior.
Fire and Rescue station officer Ian Walters said crews immediately conducted a search of the house, and found the dogs at the rear of the premises.
Owner Jamie Preo said he was grateful the dogs were ok.
"I was just so worried about them," he said.
However, he fears the family have lost everything. They will not be able to go back into the home for some time, due to asbestos contamination as a result of the fire.
The origin and cause of the fire are still unknown.
