We in Berry have been waiting for a noise barrier to be put in place for over three years. The road noise in the Arbour retirement village is unbearable.

Help with insurance claims
I read with interest the story about the business disruption insurance claim that Darren Flanagan has experienced.
Darren took his story to media via A Current Affair.
There are specialist Insurance claim preparers who could have actioned Mr Flanagan's issue via the dispute resolution process that every insurance company must have under the industry code of practice.
This process is very effective and a lot less stressful than the route that Mr Flanagan has travelled.
These claim preparers usually work with insurance brokers to investigate an agreeable outcome for the insured.
I have had experience with insurers on a number of occasions where the scope of works for the restoration of the insured damage or the settlement payout offered has not been prepared in full compliance of the policy cover and the insured is disadvantaged.
Recent examples: a claim for fire related damage to a home in the Shoalhaven affected from the recent bushfires, where the pinsurer compiled a scope of works and offered the home owner approx. $140,000 but when the scope was examined by South Coast Building Consultants, I found that it was not accurate and the works are now valued at over $250,000.
Another example is a homeowner that was disadvantaged when his claim for a fire and total lost of his home was denied. There were extenuating circumstances and after engaging a local claims preparer based in Berry, Claim Partners, his claim was paid for the insured value.
I hope that this information can help others.

Don't destroy land connection
Shoalhaven City Council could best demonstrate its commitment to Indigenous culture by not destroying the latter's land connections.
Stop giving approval to deveopers to raze forests in the beautiful Shoalhaven. Think differently by viewing the natural environment as the most precious, irreplaceable asset. After all, it is the central attraction in the region for people from urban areas.
Make it the tourist attraction through guided walks by Indigenous people, an education opportunity for young people which could see employment for Indigenous people.
Flora and fauna knowledge expanded in this way, will see more people appreciating and wanting to participate in protecting the treasure we already have at our doorstep.

Decent rail will reduce traffic
Nowra is the only NSW city without a rail link. A rail bridge enabling the rail line to continue into Nowra, along with the much-needed upgrade of the line between Kiama and Bomaderry, would reduce the ever-increasing vehicle traffic and provide a much safer journey between Nowra, Sydney and destinations in between.

Gareth Ward has bee throwing mud around on roads and Shoalhaven City C council when a fire affected area with huge tourism flow needs an all inclusive playground to move our town into the 21st century.
