A spokesperson for Transport for NSW said the organisation has listened to community concerns and will reduce the speed limit on a 10 kilometre stretch of the road from Coonamia Road to just north of Lighthouse Road.
"Road users will have a safer journey to and from Currarong from next week with the Currarong Road speed limit reduced," the spokesperson said.
"The speed limit will be reduced from 100 km/h to 80 km/h, providing a consistent speed along Currarong Road and provide a safer road environment for all road users."
The new speed limit will come into effect from Monday, June 29, with work to install the new speed limit signs taking place from Monday, June 22 to Monday, June 29.
Signs will be in place to advise motorists of the changed traffic conditions.
Road users are asked to keep an eye out for the changes and follow the directions of signs.
Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and to have a say on speed limits.
