Nowra Local Court Magistrate Gabriel Fleming convicted Sonia Lyne Golding, 21, of three counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.
Court papers said Golding, who was an employee of the newsagency, which is also an Australia Post agency with banking facilities, from October 2017 until May 2018, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court was told Golding had transferred various amounts of money on numerous occasions into her bank accounts, without the money appearing in the businesses tills.
While she faced three charges of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception, police alleged Golding performed more than 20 separate transactions totalling $12,900.
It was alleged she made seven transactions between April 10, 2018 and May 1, 2018 worth $3600.
A further six transactions worth $4000 were made between April 13 and May 2, 2018, and 10 transactions worth $5300 between April 10 and May 2, 2018.
Police say the transfers were made into three separate bank accounts, with some transactions even performed prior to the facilities being open.
One of the business owners noticed discrepancies in the transactions and when confronted Ms Golding repaid $3700.
Checks revealed a further $9300 was missing, with CCTV footage confirming she had transferred the money.
Police were notified and started investigations.
Magistrate Fleming fined Golding $9000 and placed her on a 12-month community corrections order meaning she can serve her sentence in the community and not in jail.
She has also been ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.
