Shoalhaven City Council's decision to hand out $300 to each ratepayer did not sit well with our readers. Our inbox has been swamped with letters, the vast majority of which condemn the move, designed to help in the COVID-19 crisis. Readers said they'd prefer to see the money spent on job creation, infrastructure and even a green bin service. Many said the money would end up in the hands of absentee property owners and would likely be spent outside the local government area.

Trees have also causing headaches for council. Residents in around Taylors Lane are angry about a decision to remove about 300 trees as part of the road upgrade. And the removal of London plane trees causing underground damage in Berry Street, Nowra has also upset some locals.
While COVID-19 restrictions have put great strain on many businesses, one local restaurant has powered through the lockdown. The Butter Factory has been run off its feet, filling takeaway orders. Great to see locals backing local businesses.
The pandemic hasn't slowed progress on the big new Woolworths in Bomaderry, which is on track to open in August.
