Matthew Braddick, 20, of Nowra had previously pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
The court heard Braddick and a co-accused Jarrad Kane Wilkinson, 20, of South Nowra, who has also been found guilty of robbery armed with an offensive weapon, and is due to be sentenced next month, approached the teenager at the Shoalhaven Netball Courts in South Nowra on July 9.
It was alleged Wilkinson first approached the boy around 12.30pm, speaking to him before leaving and heading into bushland at the rear of the courts.
Approximately 20 minutes later it was alleged Wilkinson returned with Braddick, approached the boy and produced a knife before demanding property.
The boy handed over $5 and his iPhone 6 Plus, before the men allegedly fled into bushland.
They were spotted by police walking along the Princes Highway at Nowra, with a search of the men allegedly locating the victim's property.
In Nowra District Court on April 3, Judge Ian McClintock placed Braddick on a 12-month intensive corrections' order, meaning he can serve his sentence in the community rather than in jail.
He was also ordered to perform 150 hours of community service work.
Wilkinson is due to be sentenced at Downing Centre District Court in Sydney on May 15.
