Much has been said in the past couple of weeks about holiday-makers staying away from the coast during Easter. Authorities, and locals, rightly fear an outbreak in our region could quickly overwhelm our already stressed hospitals.

We've had reports of visitors flocking to seaside villages and even remote campgrounds in the hinterland.
Several on-the-spot fines have been issued to people breaking the social distancing rules, including four $1000 fines to a group of women in North Nowra in the one car in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The owner of a holiday house in Mollymook who thought it was a good idea to invite 20 mates down also had a visit from police.
Day by day, we've seen the messaging get louder and sterner. If you do not have a reasonable excuse to be out, you risk a $1000 on the spot fine and if the matter goes to court, that penalty could be as high as $11,000 or six months' jail.
Police have made it clear they will stop vehicles for random spot checks.
But it's not only visitors who pose a threat of spreading this virus.
Well meaning but misinformed locals are taking big risks too and not all of them are obvious.
Take surgical gloves, for example. We see them on people in supermarkets but we have no way of knowing where they have been and what they have touched. It is far safer to ditch the gloves and wash your hands thoroughly and regularly. Hand washing not only reduces your vulnerability to picking up coronavirus, it lessens the likelihood you'll spread it. And let's face it, you're not likely to wash your gloves, are you?
Wearing gloves designed for single use and disposal simply heightens the risk of spreading the virus.
People are also handling produce and packages without thought for the next person who comes along. These days of checking nutrition information on products should probably be suspended for now.
We're still seeing too many people flocking to our CBDs at the same time and not keeping a safe distance from each other. We were told Nowra last Thursday was manic with shoppers, with streets jammed with people. Little wonder, then, we now see the place listed as a hot spot for local transmission. So, again, stay home unless you absolutely have no choice.
