It was only a word four weeks ago and we all thought we were safe, untouched. We watched dismayed as deaths began to rise in China, then more intently as it jumped to Europe and took a foothold there. Now, it's in Australia and numbers of infections - and deaths - are rising. We can no longer deny.
It has finally arrived in the Eurobodalla region. As a concerned resident and retired carer, I am nervous. This is catastrophic.
I am petrified, gravely concerned by the ignorance of the many ignoring the advice of health officials to self isolate and restrict daily movements. If we don't act now, we will be the next Italy.
It's time to behave sensibly and adhere. We must especially protect our ageing loved ones, those with medical and auto-immune conditions and our young ones.
Our hospitals and the medical fraternity are preparing for the tsunami of patients to arrive. The hard and fast reality is people will succumb to this extremely infectious disease.
Our community is struggling after the bushfires, with our front-line workers in the supermarkets, hospitals, pharmacies, schools, child care at high risk. Trauma is apparent and now this world wide event ...

- self isolate if recently returned from overseas for 14 days or if have been in contact with someone
We implore tourists to stay away until it's safe.
Many of us have vulnerable loved ones to protect.
Our fate is in our hands.
