WHILE most sports action across the South Coast called time on their local competitions last week, one that didn't was tennis.
At Bomaderry's Narang Road Tennis Courts, the Shoalhaven District Tennis Association held one final tournament - the Jetts Super Challenge - before they were forced from the courts, due to the coronavirus epidemic.
In the girls' division of the event, which is the premier tennis competition for under 16s Shoalhaven athletes, Parri Barrele defeated Hannah Phillips 6-4 6-2 in the decider.
Malia Barrele won the third-place playoff against Olivia Matthews (6-2 6-3), as Sarah Roberts ousted Olivia Healy (6-2 6-1) for fifth - with Alicia Healy ending up in seventh.
While the boys' section, Christian Muller was crowned the champion after defeating Zac Muller in the final 6-2 6-1.
Josh Miller finished third, after edging Oscar Goley 6-2 6-3 in a playoff, while Harrison Baxter pipped Baden Manwarring (6-2 6-1) for fifth - with Ryan Balfour and Jack Hay finishing seventh and eighth respectively.
All of the athletes received prize money on the day, which will go to future tennis expenses.
