This action was taken to help avoid the possible spread of the coronavirus that is currently sweeping the world.
While the Nowra Velo Club supports this action, it has come at a time when a group of talented juniors have become members of the Nowra Velo Club.
These young riders have transferred from another club and from the club and CNSW's introductory free licence program.
A batch of these free licences, known as VIP Junior licenses were available to all potential members, either girl or boy, up to age 18, to try cycling racing as a sport and race with the local club.
This years group of juniors include the Trkulja siblings, Amelia and Curtis, who transferred to Nowra Velo from the Illawarra CC, and local high school student Liam Wallis.
Other new members are already accomplished junior triathletes with the desire to improve their cycling skills.
This group include Freya Mills, Zara Jobson, Zac Peters, Josh Ludman, Ryan Fleming and Coby Muir.
These youngsters have already chalked up wins against the older established club members and with the keenness of youth on their side, this will continue.
This action was showing benefits to both the juniors and all other club members through extra competition-heightening skills from competing against experienced riders.
Two notable juniors who went on to race at international and national levers include Jade Colligan and Darren Rolfe.
All members of the Nowra Velo Club now look forward to a return to competition when possible - as Cycling NSW continues to reevaluate the ever-changing COVID-19 situation.
