Despite a spokesperson saying on Friday, March 13, that they expected things to be "business as usual," the council revised its position on Tuesday, March 17.
"In response to the COVID-19 pandemic council has made the decision to reschedule major live performances at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre until the end of May 2020," another spokesperson said on Tuesday.
"This decision was made in accordance with World Health Organisation guidelines discouraging mass gatherings, and the NSW Government's ban on non-essential mass gatherings.
"Patrons will be contacted soon regarding refunds of rescheduled events."
In a release on Wednesday, March 18, Mayor Amanda Findley said the council's decision was a direct response to national and international public health advice that non-essential gatherings should be cancelled.
"Council has made the decision to suspend performances for the next 10 weeks to ensure our audiences, artists and staff are safeguarded." Mayor Amanda Findley said.
Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre manager Karen Patterson said they are working to reschedule their dates.
"The Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre loves connecting our loyal patrons with great experiences at shows performed by local, national and international artists," Ms Patterson said.
"We're working with local hirers, national companies, and international tours to reschedule their dates.
Shoalhaven City Council will continue to monitor and respond to public health advice provided by the Federal and State Government.
Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre's Box Office, Visitor Information Service, and Encore Café & Bar all remain open.
