The hosts at Hobart's Blundstone Arena won the toss and decided to bowl, sending the competition front-runners to the crease.
In their first innings, the visitors could only manage 195 from their 68.4 overs.
Nick Larkin (45) and Daniel Solway (32) led the way for the Blues, as Gilkes contributed seven from 15 deliveries.

The 10 wickets were shared between Tasmanian openers Nathan Ellis (6/43) and Gabe Bell (4/45).
In reply, Tasmania claimed first innings by posting 270, paced by Charlie Wakim (78) and Ben McDermott (46).
Wicket-takers for the Blues were Sean Abbott (4/52), Trent Copeland (3/85), Jack Edwards (2/42) and Harry Conway (1/59).
In their second dig, the Blues fared marginally better, reaching 203.
Kurtis Patterson top-scored with 46, while the Ulladulla High School alumnus scored 15 from 59 balls.
Ellis (3/52) and Sam Rainbird (3/72) took three scalps each for the hosts.
The victory was easily secured by Tasmania in their second innings, reaching 1/132 from their 40.3 overs - thanks to 67 not out from Jordan Silk.

Despite the loss, which drops them to 6-2 on the season, Gilkes' Blues still sit in first place with one round remaining.
Next up for the Blues is a trip to the WACA Ground from March 17 to face Western Australia.
Despite the result of this match, the Blues have qualified for the Shield final, slated to start on March 27.
