Chicken Little at work
Greg Watson is typical of many Australians when we are confronted by a crisis. We apply the chicken little defence. The sky is falling, the sky is falling. Greg Watson is a person who spreads baseless or exaggerated reports of danger.

Motion in full
You recently posted a story by Stuart Thomson which did not reflect the motion I moved at council, and I believe misrepresented its context. Unfortunately, the Greens and one of their followers voted against what the rest of the councillors including the CEO voted for. I would respectfully ask you to publish this comment and the motion in its entirety.
'"The CEO immediately start the preparation of a response to a possible coronavirus pandemic affecting Australia and as consequence the Shoalhaven Area.
"The plan should be informed by the following:
"1. The protection of our residents by reducing the risk of exposure through a local education program and possible closure of Public airconditioned buildings, if determined to be necessary, to reduce the potential of virus transmission.
"2. Protection of our employees where practical, by allowing as many as possible to work from home using computer links as air-conditioning and the close work environment may aid in the spread of the disease.
"3. Monitoring of the health of employees as they arrive at work.
"4. Immediate representation be made to the Minister for Local Government to allow Council Meetings to be conducted remotely using computers should local infections by the coronavirus occur to facilitate the continuation of Council business.
Note: This is an attempt to ensure we are prepared should the coronavirus spread throughout Australia."

Get proper advice
Greg Watson is not a medical expert and yes it is good to have alternative measures in place but also have proper professionals adding to those preparations so people are confident that all the bases are covered.
We are already seeing panic because of excessive reporting as well as false reporting.

Retailers need help
Beloved Boho is one of my favorite stores in Nowra. I love to support small businesses and shop local. Amie is always friendly, bubbly, kind, and helpful. I will dearly miss her shop when she has to close. My heart breaks for her, I can only imagine how she and the other retailers are feeling. I truly wish council would do more to help not just Amie, but all the struggling retailers, this summer has been hard for us all!! Thank you for doing a story for Amie to highlight what she and other small businesses are facing.

LET THEM OWN IT
If Scott Morrison can deny such a thing as global warming and climate change linked to fossil fuel, then in my mind I have no problem in denying such thing as social housing.
If there was a genuine concern by any Australian Government about a lack of home ownership by the Australians who have battled all their lives to keep a roof over their heads, why is it that they battle their way through a hard and often difficult life to never reach the Australian dream of ever owning their own home?
If social housing was a genuine concern by any of our well-heeled politicians safely aboard life's gravy train, then after renting a government house for 25 years or over, tenants should be given the deeds to the place.
Some would argue that if given a house, the owner would put it up for sale straight away and move on somewhere else. So what? It's called the real estate game.
