AFTER winning their opening two matches of the 2020 Super W season, the ACT Brumbies, headlined by Bomaderry's Harriet Elleman and Narrawallee's Grace Sullivan, have suffered their first defeat of their campaign - going down 41-8 to two-time reigning premiers NSW.

Despite the match being played at Bankwest Stadium, the Brumbies opened the scoring on Saturday through the boot of Sammie Wood in the third minute.
The visitors held that lead for nine minutes before Waratahs skipper Grace Hamilton barged over in the 12th minute.

This was the first of three tries for the hosts in the first half, with Chloe Leaupepe and Maya Stewart also crossing, for a 15-3 advantage at the break.
The premiers stepped it up a gear in the second, as Campbell Aitken's side ran in four second half tries (Stewart, Mahalia Murphy, Emily Chancellor and Hamilton) to seal the 41-8 win.

Arabella McKenzie landed three conversions in the 33-point victory, as Louise Burrows crossed for a late consolation try for the Brumbies.
Adam Butt's side, now 2-1 on the season, have the bye this round before they'll look to rebound against the Queensland Reds at GIO Stadium on Sunday, March 15.
