The defending KBO champions piled on six runs in the first inning - despite the best efforts of pitcher Atherton.
And although they produced a late rally, Australia was unable to complete a comeback, falling 10-5.
Some of Australia's new faces ignited the comeback, such as Warner - who's two-run double in the sixth pulled Australia within four runs.
Warner was among seven players on Team Australia's KBO Challenge roster who were not part of a sixth-place finish at Premier12 last year - in which finished sixth in Japan.
The KBO Challenge, which is part of Australia's continued preparations for April's last-chance Olympic qualifier in Taiwan, resumes on Tuesday night when Team Australia and Doosan clash in the second of two games.
