Flood damaged Comering Island Ferry out of action until February 21

The Comerong Island Ferry which crosses Berry's Canal, joining the eastern end of Numbaa to the island, is currently out of service due to significant damage sustained during the recent heavy rains.
Ferry workers found the vessel washed well up into the eastern bank of the canal when they arrived for work early Monday morning.
Council are working to determine the full extent of the damage and schedule the repairs.
The ferry received damage to the drive cables and wheelhouse after being struck by debris and river navigation markers during the Shoalhaven River flood earlier in the week.

It is anticipated that the ferry will be operating by February 21, dependent on weather conditions.
Council is currently arranging a "residents only" punt service to transport passengers to and from the island.
This service, subject to "safe water" and weather conditions, is expected to start on Friday, February 14.
If the serious weather forecasts occur this weekend, the punt service is not expected to be able to be provided.
