Long-time Erowal Bay resident and RFS volunteer Wendy Roberts has been named as the Citizen of the Year at Shoalhaven City Council's Australia Day Awards on Thursday night.

Wendy has been involved with several organisations including the Erowal Bay RFS Brigade, the Crossroads Brigade, Jervis Bay Lions Club, Girl Guides, Camp Quality, War Widows and Meals on Wheels.
In addition to her formal volunteer work, Wendy gives her time to help many members of the Shoalhaven with personal care, transport and assists with nursing home resident's hospital visits.
Plenty of other Shoalhaven residents received honours on the night including young Citizen Alannah Mannix who was recognised for her passion and perseverance in her volunteer roles for Take3 for the Sea and Shoalhaven Heads Surf Club.

Valerie McMahon was awarded for an outstanding contribution to an inclusive Shoalhaven as a volunteer for the Shoalhaven Arts Society for over 30 years.
Tapestry artist Denise Stevens was awarded for her outstanding contribution to arts and culture. She teaches, assesses and judges awards, is a mentor and encourages participation in the arts.
New Bush Telegraph editor Patrick Thompson was recognised for his contribution to the environment for his writing and involvement with the Colong Foundation for Wilderness.
Shenae Boulton was honoured as a passionate contributor to performing arts and both Annette Pham and Steve Foord received highly commended certificates.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley said she was proud to see so many community-minded people being acknowledged.
"I am thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of local people doing amazing things in our community across a range of fields." Cr Findley said.
"It was a hard decision to make to go ahead with the Awards but it is important for us to find ways into our new normal - it was great to see so many people come together and celebrate these great people.
"I would like to acknowledge the very deserving award winners and the nominees in each category. You should be so proud of your efforts which have made a positive impact in our city and I thank those who took the time to nominate deserving citizens for the awards."
