The Nowra based club placed second in the Hooper Cup point score at NSW Country Championships in Dubbo.
Nowra finished on 599.50 points, behind the much larger Mingara Club on 791 points and in front of Illawarra Blue Stars on 497 points.
Home Club Dubbo came in a respectable fourth on 383.50 points.
Last year Nowra placed eighth in the Hooper Cup with just 279 points so the improvement is remarkable and an immensely proud achievement.
This amazing achievement from Nowra was due to the awesome effort and outstanding results by the 46 Nowra athletes who competed at Dubbo.
Nowra had a high participation level across most events including 28 athletes in the 800m where 18 medals were won for Nowra and 17 athletes in the 1500m who bagged 13 medals.
In the sprints, 23 Nowra athletes contested the 200m winning eight medals, and in the 100m seven medals were collected from 21 athletes.
The throwing and jumping events were also well represented.
Congratulations go to all the Nowra athletes.
