The former Shoalhaven resident and Bay and Basin Cricket Club junior player was among six Illawarra players announced in the Australian Boomers squad for the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers - the most of any club in the NBL.

He will be joined in the 24-player squad by Hawks captain Todd Blanchfield, Daniel Grida, Emmett Naar, Sunday Dech and Sam Froling.

The half a dozen Hawks join a host of NBL stars including Chris Goulding, Mitch Creek and Nathan Sobey as well as emerging stars Kouat Noi, Will Magnay and Sam Froling's brother, Harry.

Hawks general manager Mat Campbell said it was incredible to have six players named in the Boomers squad.

"It really shows the vast amount of opportunity is available at the Hawks," Campbell said.

"What we provide is the opportunity to develop and to showcase that development. It shows we are on the right track and will be exciting for the future of the club.

"I am proud of the boys - it is an honour to have them as part of the Boomers program and representing our country."

The final Boomers team for the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifier will be announced ahead of the first game on February 20 at Brisbane's Nissan Arena. They then travel to Hong Kong for game two.

With Boomers head coach Brett Brown unavailable due to NBA commitments, Sydney Kings's Will Weaver will take on that role with Adam Caporn and CJ Bruton as his assistants.
