Looters have been put on notice they will be caught and dragged before the courts following the discovery in Narooma on Friday of goods suspected of being looted during the bushfire emergency.
"This afternoon detectives from the South Coast Police District along with the South East Region Enforcement Squad executed a search warrant in Narooma," South Coast Police District Crime Manager Detective Scott Nelson said.
"They located a number of electrical products, phone products still in their packaging.
"We believe these are proceeds of crime relating from a number of break and enters in the bushfire affected areas."
Det Insp Nelson urged anyone with information about the identity of the people who looted the goods to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
He warned anyone thinking about taking advantage of the bushfire crisis to steal property - people he called "scavengers in human misery" - they would be caught and hauled before the courts.
"Police are out there in numbers. We are responding to this. We will find you and we will put you before the courts."
