"Strong winds this afternoon may bring down trees and cause damage to homes," an SES spokesperson said.

"The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast winds of more than 90km/h for the coast from Ulladulla to Kiama.

"If you are on the road, please watch out for fallen trees and branches. These winds are going to cause extra damage in areas already affected by fires."

The wind is expected to pick up from about 7pm. Residents are encouraged to secure any loose items around their homes.
