No humanity, no clue
I said I wouldn't bring politics into the crisis we are all going through. I am not criticising the man who is masquerading as PM on climate control, that is a discussion for later. I am calling him out for lack of leadership, poor decision making and questioning his humanity.

After reading that Scott Morrison was entertaining cricketers at Kirribilli House on New Year's Day while our country was in crisis, I was completely and utterly in disbelief.
Whatever my personal beliefs are I hold the position of PM to the highest esteem. Sadly no more. When sport and politics matter more than people our country has no chance.

Warnings ignored
It beggars belief there were so many holiday makers on the South Coast over the New Year when the entire state was warned beforehand catastrophic fire conditions were on the way.
Is it that we all feel 'entitled' to have a holiday regardless of the world around us? Some even out camping in the bush!
"I may make you feel but I can't make you think" (Thick as a Brick) as sung by Ian Anderson, Jethro Tull, seems appropriate. My sympathy and thoughts are with everyone affected.

Warnings heeded
We would normally be at Sussex Inlet this time of year, however the fire threats in the area plus the possibility of road closures delayed our plans. We were caught in the fires at Sussex years ago and it was frightening. First New Year's Eve not at the South Coast for 30-plus years.

Fiddle list
Fiddle 1 - Quietly holidays while Australia burns;
Fiddle 2 - He will try to weasel in on the funerals of the lost fire fighters and on the fire brigades themselves ;
Fiddle 3 - He will announce a public enquiry into the causes of the fires;
Fiddle 4 - He will accept some of the recommendations of the enquiry but ignore any meaningful action on climate change;
Fiddle 5- He will continue to announce capital expenditure for new dams when there is no rain to fill them;
Fiddle 6 - He will ensure that there are no attempts at bipartisan strategies to address what is now a long term national emergency at a level not faced since World War 2;
Fiddle 7 - He will continue to ignore experts on both climate change and water strategy;
Fiddle 8 - He will not only ignore sensible calls for putting a price on carbon but denigrate them;
Fiddle 9 - He will continue to refuse to learn the lessons from the middle eastern countries who use sea water (the only real source of reliable water) through desalination plants to meet their demands; and
Fiddle 10 - He will continue to burn Australia's reputation overseas as being a country who cares little for the rest of the world.
Will rural Australians be the first climate change refugees on the planet?

Outstanding effort
I would to thank and congratulate all the incredible coverage by journalists, as well as all of the other professionals and volunteers who are fighting the fires. For those of us who live in other parts of NSW or beyond/abroad, your amazing work in these extremely dangerous conditions is vital for the rest of the community and indeed the rest of the world. I sincerely hope these fires will serve as a wake-up call and finally convince politicians to seriously act by taking the drastic measures needed to reduce the impact of climate change.
