South Coast bushfires: Mogo homes and businesses burn
Mogo residents and business owners are devastated after a bush fire swept through the town on New Year's Eve.
Many homes have been lost.
Other buildings lost included Mogo Local Aboriginal Land Council, Mogo Pottery, Little Tea Shop, Mogo Mutts, ABC Property Sales and Merchant of Mogo. The Original Gold Rush Colony lost buildings, but some remained.
A Mogo resident, who stayed at home to protect his property, said the scene was "very depressing".
"My neighbours' houses are gone," he said.
Roughly one third of the retail strip was lost when the Clyde Mountain Fire swept through the northern side of town. However firefighters saved all the properties on either side of the highway, south of Annett St.
Those such as Barry and Teresa Horsburgh, whose business was saved, are eternally grateful.
