Mia Stewart and Will Davies were two of those students anxiously waiting for the 6am text from the Board of Studies this morning.
Will received 94 in Physics, 93 in Chemistry, 99 in Maths Extension 1, 98 in Maths Extension 2 and 85 for English Advanced.
He said he was particularly surprised with his strong English result.
"I'm stronger in the other areas so I was thinking I was going to get below 80 for English," he said.
Months of study and preparation, for English in particular, laid those concerns to rest.
With an ATAR of 99.25, Will has the luxury of choosing between studying a maths/science degree at ANU or The University of Sydney in 2020.
Mia is also enjoying a day of celebration after receiving 93 in Drama, 90 in VET subject Entertainment Industries (and also receiving a Cert 3), 81 in English Advanced, 79 in Music 2, 34/50 in Music Extension and 78 for Japanese Beginners where she also topped the class.
The creative student put a lot of effort into her Drama subject, which involved performing a monologue, sitting a practical exam and completing two essays during the HSC period.
Mia's monologue told the story of a woman of royal standing in Elizabethan times who falls in love with a servant and tries to convince him to move away with her.
Mia received an ATAR of 77.65 but plans to take a well-deserved break next year, before following her passion in the music/artist management field.
Both Will and Mia said their parents and teachers were very proud of their achievements.
The pair enjoyed a morning tea celebration at Nowra Anglican College on Tuesday, December 17 after receiving their results.
Principal Lorrae Sampson said she was proud of all the students.
"I am very pleased with the results of all of my students and there have been outstanding results across a wide range of subjects," she said.
