To prepare for the ground-breaking weekend-long tournament, this year held at Port Macquarie, Nowra Shoalhaven Touch Association treasurer/registrar Belinda Holt said there was a lot of work that happened behind the scenes.
"We've been wanting to get representative teams from the Shoalhaven up and running again for a number of years," Holt, who also managed the team, said.
"Matt Crossley (president), Mat Henry (referee director) and I went to the state conference this year, which inspired us even further to get a team together - it really got going in August.
"A lot of time was put into it by myself for the administration side of things, while Matt Spresser gathered the players and organised the playing attire.
"Then Ben McClennan (coach) has been working hard with the guys since September.
"There are so many things that have to be done and people that have to be included, like coaches and referees, for it to be a success."

The Shoalhaven Bushchooks team, which had Matthew Spresser and Damien Spresser as captain and vice-captain respectively, opened their tournament with a 5-3 win against Wollongong two on Friday - thanks to tries from Damien Levis (two), Matthew Spresser, Zac Stahlhut and Adam Diver.
The green and golds, which also featured Tyson Cloos, Adriaan Toms, Kuyan Wellington, Ben Wiringi, Jacob Lewis, Sam Watts, Kaleb Stewart and Tom Power, then made it two straight wins when they downed the Hills Hornets 5-3.
In the win, Matthew Spresser, Power, Stahlhut, Cloos and Lewis all crossed for tries.
Their winnings streak was halted in game three when they lost 4-nil to Bankstown - to finish the first day with a 2-1 record.
Despite tries to Levis, Cloos and Toms, the Bushchooks suffered the same fate in game four, being defeated 7-3 by Hornsby on Saturday - even though they found themselves down 4-nil at half-time.
They suffered a nail-biting 4-3 defeat in game five (after leading 3-2 at the break) to Parramatta, with Levis, Stahlhut and Lewis scoring.
The Shoalhaven based side finished the tournament with two straight losses, firstly 1-nil to Appin and then 4-1 to Balmain - with Stahlhut scoring the team's lone try.
"The guys far exceeded my expectations," Holt said.
"Knowing how hard State Cup is, I thought they would go away and learn more about touch and being that back to park level.
"But they won two of their first three games, one of which was against Hills Hornets, ranked number 13 in our pool.
"The other games they only lost by one, two and four collectively.
"They were a credit to Nowra Shoalhaven Touch and to themselves."
Holt hopes the weekend's experience will see more Nowra Shoalhaven teams attend State Cup in the future.
"We definitely will use this experience to go to further tournaments and hopefully take more teams away in the future," she said.
"I would like to take an open women's and maybe an over 35s mixed team next year."
