A man charged over an alleged carjacking in Ulladulla on Monday evening and later found asleep on a road by police has been sent for a mental health assessment.

Jamie Robert Rowe, 32, of Ulladulla, was charged with destroying or damaging property and taking and driving a conveyance without consent of owner following the alleged incident in Ulladulla about 10pm on Monday, December 9.
Police said Rowe approached a woman in her blue Toyota Corolla sedan which was parked on the Princes Highway at Ulladulla, allegedly getting in the passenger's seat.
He demanded the woman start to drive; however, she fled from the car and notified police of the incident.
It is alleged Rowe took the car and drove off.
South Coast Police District officers later found the vehicle on Blackburn Road at Kings Point, with Rowe sleeping on the road nearby.
It is also alleged he damaged the woman's iPhone.
He was arrested and taken to Ulladulla Police Station.
The charges were heard in Nowra Local Court by Magistrate Gabriel Fleming on Tuesday, December 10, who referred Rowe to Shellharbour for a mental health assessment.
