The (NPWS) joined in with other agencies, particularly last week, when the fire situation reached its most dangerous stage.
"Approximately 50 NPWS staff are currently engaged in firefighting and Incident Management Team roles on the Currowan fire," a NPWS spokesperson said.

The Currowan fire is under the control of the Rural Fire Service, with NPWS and other agencies working collaboratively to support the response effort.
Crews from NPWS were no doubt on the ground down near Batemans Bay.
"More than 300 NPWS staff are involved in responding to fires across the state each day, with officers being involved in front line firefighting roles and Incident Management Teams," the spokesperson said.
