Zunic backed up Thursday's one under with his second-straight round of 70 to sit two under after two rounds.
The 27-year-old sits tied for 41st, nine shots back from leader Matt Jones.
While Zunic will feature on the weekend, the same can't be said for Illawarra's Lincoln Tighe - a much-improved showing on Friday not enough to avoid missing the cut.
After shooting five over on Thursday, the Port Kembla golfer shot three under in his second round, a performance punctuated by an eagle on the 14th.
That saw him finish two over for the tournament, Tighe missing the cut, which was set at one-under par.
Tighe was joined in missing the cut by international stars Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els and Adam Scott, who's campaign was crippled by an opening round four-over 75.
