It has been a busy year with the club hosting the State Titles and producing seven new State Champions, as well as organising Bushido Judo Club's 50th anniversary.
The celebrations were attended by former judo students from different countries and many from interstate, including the vice-president of the World Judo Federation.
Other guests were Professor Taka Nakajima 7th Dan, Kiama MP Gareth Ward, Paul Ell, as well as a Director of Cisco International from Singapore.
We also received correspondence from a Bushido member who lives in the United States.
Other attendees included gold and bronze medallists from the Seoul Olympics as well as a four-times gold medallist from the Police Olympics.
Also there were other Olympians, and veterans of international tournaments, world titles representatives and Australian and State champions who are members of Bushido Judo Club.
The club's Darren and Danny Fagan had been organising and co-ordinating this event for the last 12 months - a major task.
Meantime, judo training at Bushido Judo Club Shoalhaven has hosted visitors from France, Japan and other countries this year.
The membership at Bushido Shoalhaven has been growing steadily with 171 members by year's end.
This year has been a very busy and rewarding year with expert coaching from highly graded judo instructors who all hold certificates for working with children.
The last training session saw 45 members practising their judo, with some being graded to higher judo belts.
Many enjoy the family friendly environment where more and more parents are taking up the sport of judo.
If an extension is forthcoming to the venue, classes for people with disabilities will be taught by a very highly respected coach in this field.
If anyone is interested in learning judo, ring 4448 8494 or visit us at the Community Centre at Shoalhaven Heads on Tuesday at 5.30pm.
