Christmas, according to the Salvos, is one of the hardest times of the year for many local residents.
Many people struggle financially and struggle to afford basics such as food.
Other people will also spend the festive season alone.
Nowra based Salvo captains Jodie and Matthew Sutcliffe said locally and nationally they expect to be busy.
"At Christmas, the Salvos will serve more than 100,000 meals, distribute more than 500,000 gifts and toys and support more than 70,000 families in need," Captain Matthew Sutcliffe said.
"However, we can only do this with the support of the public."
To give hope where it's needed most this Christmas, please donate to the Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal at salvationarmy.org.au or by calling 13 SALVOS (13 72 58).
Donations can also be made in person at any Woolworths check out, Westpac branch or at Salvo Stores.
