It is no mistake that the term QPR is so similar to CPR.
Just as CPR training enables trained individual action to save lives from heart attacks, QPR relies on trained individual action to save lives from suicide.
A face-to-face free QPR training session will be held at Worrigee Sports Club on January 30 from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
The course is being held by Lifeline South Coast.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer - the three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognise the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
QPR training will provide you with:
- Knowledge and skills to identify warning signs that someone may be suicidal
- Confidence to talk to them about suicidal thoughts
- Connect them with professional care
- Important aspects of your own self-care
