The 13-year-old boy died after falling off a near McKenzies Lookout at Burrier on Saturday, November 30.
A statement from Nowra High School and the Department of Education extended heartfelt condolences to the boy's family and friends.
"Students and teachers of Nowra High School were very saddened to hear of the death of a Year 9 student over the weekend," the statement said.
"The school has addressed students today (Monday) and has provided additional counselling services and other support services for students, and provided information for parents and carers to support their children."
Police will prepare a report for the coroner over the boy's death but have described it as a "tragic accident".
The teenager was with three other friends on Old Burrier Road, near McKenzies Lookout, Burrier, around 2.20pm on Saturday when he slipped and fell.
Emergency services attended and located his body, which was retrieved and taken to Shoalhaven District Hospital.
Police have investigated the circumstances of the incident, however it is not believed to be suspicious.
