Vincentia Matters, the residents' advocacy group, has launched the ambitious task of researching and compiling the history of Vincentia.
The inaugural community get together event, staged at Plantation Point last Saturday, attracted a couple of hundred people.
Vincentia Matters secretary Liz Tooley said past and present residents of Vincentia attended the event.
"Many brought along priceless photographs of the early days in the village," she said.
She said the aim was for residents to gather, recall, recount, relive the history of the area, the major happenings, the many family ties, the personalties.

"We want to be able to compile the history of Vincentia," she said.
"We wanted people to bring their Vincentia memories, stories, photos and ideas, to allow us to make connections and it certainly worked."
It is also hoped the project will allow the township, the people and the place, to clearly say who they are and what they value.
"It is an ambitious task, researching and compiling the history of Vincentia," Mrs Tooley said.
"But the event allowed us to discover the resources which are available in the community, such as photographs and diary entries.
"We were also able to gather information that will allow a timeline on events in the village to help piece together its history."
