Public transport woes ignored by politicians
Yes indeed Shoalhaven residents have too long been neglected where public transport is concerned. Our campaign for the upgrade and electrification of the South Coast rail line for passenger services between Bomaderry and Kiama has been ignored by the NSW government.

We continue on, collecting signatures for our petition, speaking to the residents and commuters not only in the Shoalhaven but have been down as far as Bega to highlight these issues.
The proposal for better bus services from Ulladulla to Bomaderry highlights again the need not only for an upgrade to the rail line but also for a better public bus service to our towns and villages.
These have been some of the issues that many residents and commuters bring up with us when we are out and about on our street stalls and supporting community events.
Unions Shoalhaven would only be too glad to join with Shoalhaven Transition and the Shoalhaven Transport Forum in moving these issues forward to get the much-needed services our communities need for all public transport needs.
Shoalhaven City Council resolved in a motion at its October ordinary meeting to express its public support for Unions Shoalhaven and the Shoalhaven community in general, in their firm desire to have the rail line from Bomaderry to Kiama upgraded to a full electrification standard.

Focus on farmers not on silly games
Member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips is reported to have given a stirring speech in parliament of late in support of the farmers in her electorate.
Having said that, another report stated she was described as a voice in the wilderness as her party's leader and power players were more interested in the optics of referring a minister to police for investigation.
Drought ravaged farmers must be outraged at the lack of attention being displayed by both sides of parliament as they openly demonstrate a lack of urgency in tackling the current drought and it`s causes.
With the government under severe criticism over their drought policies Labor has missed a golden opportunity to regain their lost support from regional Australia.
Individual backbenchers such as Mrs Phillips can only achieve so much without the vocal support of their party.
It would appear Labor would prefer the optics of the parliamentary theatre to that of the effort required to formulate effective drought policies in support of our farmers.
Again I say, shame on you all, with farmers on their knees and begging for help all they seem to get are platitudes and empty promises.
It could be said, not one of our parliament's finest hours when describing their drought initiatives so far.

We need a new bridge and a Nowra bypass
How about some forward thinking on this topic? The area needs both and together. The more time that passes the greater the cost, more houses will be constructed and no doubt more objections from those who qualify as NIMBYs.
Money to do capital works has never been cheaper, so get on with it, that`s what we vote our government to do - solve problems and strangely it's not rocket science.
