Her commitment and perseverance has seen the Illawarra Academy of Sport (IAS) scholarship athlete and Illawarra Cycle Club (ICC) member, claim impressive back-to-back wins in NSW's most prestigious track cycling events.
Over the last two weekends, Amelia has won the elite women's Golden Wheel race at Wagga Wagga and the Clarence Street Cyclery Cup on the Olympic Velodrome at Bankstown.
Amelia has excelled in both track and road cycling throughout 2019.
After winning an Australian Junior Track silver medal in March with her NSW team mates in the Team Pursuit, Amelia carried her good form through the winter road season.
Coming back from many weeks off the bike due to illness and surgery, Amelia put in a gutsy performance at the NSW Junior Road Championships in the Hunter Valley in August to win two bronze medals.
At the end of August, Amelia joined forces with her ICC/IAS team mates to win gold for ICC in the inaugural NSW Junior Women U17 Team Time Trial Championships.
In September, at the Australian Junior Road Titles on the Gold Coast, Amelia placed in the top 10 for the Time Trial and almost pulled off an upset in the Criterion, launching a brave solo attack in the final moments to place 5th in the bunch sprint finish.
In recognition of her efforts, Amelia was selected in the Cycling NSW Rauland Development squad to tour New Zealand in October.
This was an amazing opportunity to race internationally, as part of a team, in very challenging conditions in and around Invercargill over three days and six stages in the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland.
Amelia reached the podium in 2nd place for the penultimate criterium stage of the Yunca Tour.
The road tour was followed by two days of track racing in the Cycling NZ Schools National Track Championships.
November saw Amelia debut into U19's where she launched into the open women track cycling scene with back-to-back wins in the Wagga Wagga Cycle Club Women's Golden Wheel Race and the Women's Clarence St Cyclery Cup in Sydney one week later.
Amelia now joins past winners of these highly contested and prestigious wheel races including Olympian and world champion Kaarle McCulloch and Tour de France stage winner Caleb Ewan.
Amelia is hoping for continued success on the bike at state, national and international levels but more so riding with friends, staying healthy and having fun.
