In Sydney's Downing Centre District Court on November 15, Judge Warwick Hunt sentenced Matthew Leslie Kershaw, 45, to three and half years jail on taking and detaining a person in company with intent to gain an advantage, actual bodily harm.
Kershaw and a female co-accused, allegedly held another woman against her will in Nowra between 3.40pm and 7pm on August 16, 2017.
It was alleged Kershaw took the woman without her consent and held her in an attempt to get her to sign over the ownership of a car.
Judge Hunt backdated the sentence to start on August 22, 2017 and set a non-parole period of two years and four months.
Kershaw will be eligible for parole on December 21 this year.
Judge Hunt found special circumstances and recommended the State Parole Authority consider imposing a condition that Kershaw attend both a violent offenders program and intensive drug rehabilitation upon his release to parole.
