Jonathon Edward Cooper, 48, of Old Erowal Bay, returned a breath reading almost four times the legal limit when he was stopped by police at Sanctuary Point on September 7.
Police noticed Cooper's Holden Commodore around 10.50pm with a non-illuminated rear number plate, making it unreadable.
Officers pulled the vehicle over on The Park Drive near Larmer Avenue.
He underwent a breath test which returned a positive result and later a reading of 0.199.
In Nowra Local Court on Monday, November 18, after Cooper pleaded guilty to high range drink driving, Magistrate Gabriel Fleming fined him $1500, placed him on a community corrections order for 12 months, disqualified him from driving for seven months and ordered he have an interlock device fitted to his vehicle for two years.
