Building compliance officers from Shoalhaven City Council will inspect the derelict Riverhaven Motel in Nowra to determine if it is structurally sound.

The motel caught fire in the early hours of Friday, November 15, just 13 months after a similar blaze in October 2018.
"If it is found to be structurally unsound we could take it further to order it be either rectified or removed," said council's building compliance section manager Colin Wood.
Mr Wood said this was standard practice after any structure fire.
"If asbestos is found, we would order it be cleaned up and require certification that this had been done."
Mr Wood said after the fires it was time for the owners to make a call on its future.
The Riverhaven Motel has not operated for some years and has in that time fallen into disrepair and been home to squatters.
In 2013, then Shoalhaven Mayor Joanna Gash and local architect Colin Irwin flagged the motel site as the location for a $35 million hotel and apartment development.
Those plans were shelved when it was announced the new bridge over the Shoalhaven River would be constructed west of the existing northbound bridge.
