After finishing 10th at the season-opening Coolangatta Gold event, the Northcliffe SLSC athlete just missed out on replicating that finish, during the endurosurf leg.
This stage saw the ironmen and women race over the M-shaped course for 40 minutes
Each of the four disciplines of swim, board, ski and ran will be approximately 10-minutes long, with competitors in the water legs taking on the surf break a total of 12 times.
The women's event was won Noosa Heads' Lana Rogers, from Newport's Lizzie Welborn and Northcliffe's Harriett Brown.
As such, Rogers - who's won both the two opening rounds - sits in first heading into round three at Bulli on December 1, while Higgison is in 10th.
During the five races, series athletes get to drop their worst result.
In the men's event, Kurawa's Matt Poole took line honours, from Kurawa's Tanyn Lyndon and Currumbin's Ben Carberry.
Kiama's Ali Day has ruled himself out of the 2019/20 series due to an injury to both his wrists.
