Federici, who has 16 caps for his country, has been rewarded with selection in the squad following a strong start to the season with Stoke City in the English Championship.
The 34-year-old was last called into the side in August 2017 but hasn't played for the Socceroos since a single appearance in 2016.
Australia, who have already defeated Kuwait (3-nil), Nepal (5-nil) and Chinese Taipei (7-1) during the qualifiers, have a poor record against Jordan with just two wins from their five meetings - the last, a 1-nil defeat to open their Asian Cup title defence in Al Ain, UAE.
"All we can do is focus on ourselves," Arnold said to Football Australia.
"We know what their strengths are, we know what their weaknesses are, we know that they'll sit deep in a block and we've been working on that for the last three camps on how to break that type of game down."
Goalkeeper Federici is joined in the squad by Aziz Behich, Brandon Borrello, Martin Boyle, Milos Degenek, Kenny Dougall, Apostolos Giannou, Craig Goodwin, Rhyan Grant, Ajdin Hrustic, Jackson Irvine, James Jeggo, Mathew Leckie, Awer Mabil, Aaron Mooy, Andrew Redmayne, Josh Risdon, Mathew Ryan, Tom Rogic, Trent Sainsbury, Brad Smith, Harry Souttar, Adam Taggart and Bailey Wright.
