At approximately 2am on November 2 police responded to reports of an alleged shooting at a home in Antares Close, Nowra. They believe sometime after 12.30am a shotgun round shattered glass above where a man was resting on a couch.
Police seized several items for forensic examination, including wadding from a firearm.
About an hour later police were called to a second incident in Peniston Avenue, Nowra where a man arrived home to find his house damaged by shotgun pellets.
Speaking to media, South Coast Police District Superintendent Greg Moore said police would be throwing all their resources at the incident.
"We have zero tolerance for this type of behaviour," Supt Moore said.
"The Shoalhaven area is ordinarily a peaceful area and we'll be doing our best to keep it that way."
Police suspect the two shootings may be connected.
"The fact that these incidents happened in quick succession, there's a suspicion that they are linked," he said.
Police said it was fortunate no one was injured in either incident and thanked the community for the information they've provided so far.
"The houses were occupied and understandably concerning for those residents," he said
"We're appreciative of the community feedback that we've had already but we are seeking assistance from any member of the community has information about these shootings"
There is also a reward on offer for anyone reluctant to provide information.
"[We are] sending a message to the people engaged in this activity, you certainly need to be looking over your shoulder because we won't rest until we get to the bottom of these incidents," he said.
Anyone with information can contact Nowra Police on 4421 9699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
