First up, the Aussies secured a 1-nil win against Venezuela at Taichung Intercontinental Stadium on Saturday - with Mitch Nilsson scoring the winning run.
Australia broke a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth and rode strong pitching to a shutout victory, led by the pitchers who allowed just five hits in a solid hit-out.
Atherton, Josh Guyer and Steve Kent each worked two innings.
Atherton worked through the opening two frames on just 20 pitches, striking out two and not allowing a hit.
Next up was a clash with Chinese Taipei at the Taichung Intercontinental Stadium on Sunday.
Australia took an early lead through Logan Wade in the second innings but were unable to hold the hosts at bay, falling 7-1.
Atherton and his Australian team now heads to South Korea ahead of facing the Group C hosts at Seoul's Gocheok Sky Dome on Wednesday.
