The team this year consisted of nine riders who competed in Dressage, Hacking, Sporting, Show jumping, Hunter and the Three Phase Interschool Challenge with some fantastic results from all students who competed.
The team spirit and camaraderie the St John's team showed their peers at the event are to be commended. All the hard work that goes into preparing a horse and rider to compete at this level paid off as the team won Champion Secondary School for accumulated points from all nine competitors over the three-day event.
Some of the highlights include Jack Rutledge, who was awarded Champion Year 9 rider and won both the 75cm (Fault and out class) and 90cm (Superphase class) in the secondary showjumping. Luca Winchester was awarded Reserve Champion Year 7 rider and won the 75cm showjumping (Superphase class) and the 3 Phase Interschool Challenge. Lois Fleming was awarded Reserve Champion Secondary Showjump rider and won the 1.05m Showjumping (Jumpoff class), while McKayla Smith won the 60cm Hunter class for years 9-12. Brigitte Herne, Bayli Batchelor, Kieara Richards, Penny Small and Kiera Hitchcock all placed in the hacking ring, with Bayli Batchelor receiving outstanding results taking home six 1st place ribbons on the day.
Well done to the St John's the Evangelist Equestrian Team once again for their outstanding results and team spirit.
