Last week, Mrs Phillips send a letter to Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt and NSW Health Minsiter Brad Hazzard asking them to "abandon any plans" to close the sub-acute mental health unit at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital.
The 20-bed mental health unit is set to close for three weeks around Christmas. It's believed the unit was closed for the same period last year.
Fiona Phillips said Shoalhaven Hospital already had the second worst emergency room delays in the state and the unit's closure would only compound the issue.

"I am shocked at the decision to close the sub-acute mental health unit at Shoalhaven Hospital for three weeks at a time when we know people can struggle with mental health the most," Mrs Phillips said.
"I have asked the federal and state health ministers to ensure this unit is kept open so it can continue to support those in need in our community."
A spokesperson for the Minister for Health Greg Hunt said general management of the hospital was the state government's responsibility.
"The management and general operation of Shoalhaven Hospital's sub-acute mental health unit is a matter for the NSW State Government," the spokesperson said.
"The Morrison Government is committed to providing the best mental health care and support for all Australians.
"In 2019-20, the Government's total expenditure for mental health is estimated to be $5.2 billion."
NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard did not respond to a request for comment.
