Engelbrecht smashed 125 from 113, which included 15 boundaries and one six, as his team reached 6/305 from their 50 overs against UNSW at David Phillips South.
But this knock was not enough, as 160 not out from Jack Attenborough steered UNSW, which contains Ulladulla Matthew Gilkes - who scored six, to 7/307 after 49.1 overs, to win the Poidevin-Gray Shield clash by three wickets.
Through his first six matches, Engelbrecht has scored 214 runs, as an average of 35.7, while also claiming four wickets with the ball.
On Saturday, the Dragons made 6/318 from their 96 overs, on day one of their match at Parramatta against Old King Oval - with Engelbrecht making 36.
