During the final week of the school holidays, Sydney Theatre Company hosted 26 high school students from years 10 and 11, around NSW for their annual work experience week.
Georgia Duncan from Nowra Anglican College and Jarrah Carlile from Bomaderry High School were the only students from the Shoalhaven who were selected for the program.
It was a rare opportunity for them to be able to get an inside look into STC.
Throughout the week they learnt about programming, direction, set and costume design, marketing and corporate sponsorship and also attended a performance of The Real Thing at the Sydney Opera House.
"It is amazing. I've never had anything like it," Jarrah said.
"I've got to see the high level skill and all the different aspects. I've heard how the people working in theatre got to where they are, how they've made the journey here."
Georgia's favourite part of the program was learning about the costumes and talking about set design.
"I've done a lot of set design with the Albatross Musical Theatre Company," Georgia said.

"It's something I've always been interested in, so seeing another side of it in a professional aspect was really interesting."
The experience has encouraged Georgia and Jarrah to consider pursuing a career in theatre.
"I'd love to if I could. A lot of people don't make it but it would be a dream goal for me if I could end up doing it," Jarrah said.
"It has motivated me to pursue theatre. Just seeing all the different sides, how hard it is and the kind of study that I would need to do," Georgia said.
Georgia said other students should consider applying for the program next time around.
"If you are a beginner and haven't got much experience in other parts of theatre and are interested in seeing more of the backstage kinds of things it's a really good experience for the week," she said.
